OBJECTIVE: To understand the influence of the research project of integrated promotion of mature contraceptive methods on the satisfaction of family planning services and current contraceptive methods among rural women of childbearing age, and evaluate the effect of intervention. Methods: In December 2002, Chongqing and Sichuan provinces were selected respectively in a county with a moderate economic and cultural level. Comprehensive intervention programs were formulated for service targets and service providers, and their implementation was gradually implemented. The baseline, mid-term, and final Satisfaction of the client with the service process and the use of contraceptive methods during the assessment. Results: The proportion of women with childbearing age in the third, fourth, and fourth trimesters who evaluated the family planning service as “better” (4.4%, 88.6%, 95.8%) and satisfied with the current contraceptive methods (52.5% , 67.4%, 95.4%) showed an increasing trend. After multivariate Logistic regression adjusted for potential confounding factors such as age, occupation, history of pregnancy and contraception, the proportion of respondents rated service progress as “better” at interim and final assessments (OR interim = 2.67, 95% CI = 1.39-5.14; OR interim = 7.77, 95% CI = 5.34-11.31), and satisfaction with current contraceptive methods was significantly higher (OR interim = 1.87, 95% CI = Interim = 18.81, 95% CI = 10.91-32.43). Conclusion: Comprehensive interventions can effectively improve the satisfaction of rural women of childbearing age on the family planning service process and the current contraceptive methods, and promote the improvement of family planning services.
