本研究依据小句关系理论,以全国英语等级考试(PETS)笔语语料库为研究文本,运用定量研究的方法分析了英语写作中小句关系的使用特点,旨在从新角度探讨中国英语学习者英语写作的语篇连贯特征。研究发现,学习者对小句关系和逻辑连接语使用存在着过多或过少甚至忽略现象,缺乏多样性,呈现出小句堆砌和连接语滥用的倾向。研究表明,PETS英语学习者在小句关系及逻辑连接语使用方面知识不足、能力不够,与英语习惯表达范式的要求存在一定差距。本研究为我国英语写作教学提供了一定的启示。
Based on the clause-relationship theory, this study uses the PETS corpus as the research text, and uses the quantitative research method to analyze the characteristics of the use of small-to-medium sentences in English writing, aiming to explore the relationship between Chinese EFL learners’ English writing and English writing Discourse coherence features. The study finds that learners have too much or too little or even neglect of the use of clausal relations and logical connectives, lack of diversity, and they tend to abuse small clauses and connectives. The research shows that there is a gap between PETS English learners’ lack of knowledge and their lack of knowledge in clausal relations and the use of logical connectives. This study provides some enlightenment for our English writing teaching.
