稍微上了点年纪的人大约都熟悉活跃在三四十年代的中国武侠小说作家宫白羽,看过他所写的《十二金钱镖》、《武林争雄记》、《偷拳》、《血涤寒光剑》、《联镖记》等作品。他的武侠小说作品有一定的思想深度,情节曲折,曾拥有大量的读者,并被称誉为“北派武侠小说四大名家”之一(其他三家为郑证因、还珠楼主(李寿民)、王度庐)。二十世纪后半期,港、台、澳及东南亚地区许多武侠小说作者都自诩是师承白羽,他的崇拜者大有人在。宫白羽曾经和鲁迅先生有过一段交往,他深受新文学的熏陶,
