Earlier studies on the psychological reality of characterization of metaphor in time and space have been criticized for being in vocal language. The researches on gesture and sign language that have arisen in recent years provide new perspectives and evidences for the proof of this issue. On the one hand, the gesture can form a metaphor of space-time in three spatial dimensions, effectively responding to the opposition’s questioning of the circular argument of conceptual metaphorical theory at the linguistic and conceptual level; on the other hand, the uniqueness of the use of sign language space and the cultural schemata Complexity, resulting in more diverse forms of their metaphors in time and space, providing richer typological evidence for the research in this field. Future research should also pay attention to the convergence of multidisciplinary psychology, linguistics and ethnology, and establish a more generalized and systematic theoretical framework that includes both spoken and written gestures and sign language.
