To avoid damage, energy must dissipate through the impact. To reduce collision loss, an energy absorber that consumes energy through deformation and folding is used to prevent damage to critical parts of the structure. In this paper, quasi-static tests on single-hole and porous thin-walled aluminum tubes with triangular, square, hexagonal and octagonal sections are carried out. The test results are compared with the numerical analysis results. It shows that the energy absorption capacity of the absorber with porous section is higher than that of single-hole section. In addition, hexagonal and octagonal porous sections absorb the most energy per unit mass.
