邓小平实现了社会主义认识上的三个转变。其一,他认为摘社会主义应当老老实实,搞社会主义只能摸索着干而且难免犯错误,社会主义要赢得民心只能靠事实而不能靠这个名字本身,由此实现了由空调空谈向低调务实的转变;其二,他认为马克思列宁主义和毛泽东思想从来不是教条而是行动的指南,搞社会主义必须解放思想,实事求是,尊重和支持人民群众的实践,由此实现了由教条主义向实践第一的转变;其三,他认为搞社会主义建设必须跟上时代的步伐,在坚持社会主义根本制度的前提下,社会主义的具体制度可以而且应当发生变化,在坚持社会主义基本原则的前提下,社会主义的各种政策和策略应当具有灵活性,由此实现了由极端呆板僵化向高度灵活应变的转变。低调务实,实践第一,灵活应变是邓小平理论的三个重要特点。

Low-key and pragmatic, practice first, flexibility is the three important characteristics of Deng Xiaoping Theory.
