The Wyoming-type volcano-uranium deposit was produced in the Late Cretaceous Lalami and Fox Mountains in the Cheyenne Basin, northeastern Colorado. The location, geometry and particular depositional environment trends of the Oligothswet River Formation, the Late Cretaceous Lamii Formation and the Fox Mountains Formation are all important factors that control the distribution of uranium in these sandstones. Fox Mountain Sandstone is made up of a 450 ft (140 m) nearshore delta and sand island - tidal channel sandstone. They cover the offshore sediments of the Pierre Shale and are covered by the Delta Plains and river sediments of the Lamyam Formation. Uranium, which may have come from volcanic ash from the White River Group, was carried by groundwater and passed through the White River Formation’s channel sediments into the sandstone of the Lalami and Fox Mountains, where it settled. Foxstone sandstone is good for uranium mineralization
