Somatostatin (SST) is a polypeptide hormone which can be used in the human body to inhibit secretion. A large number of somatostatin-producing cells exist in the central and peripheral nervous system, endocrine pancreas, digestive tract. Somatostatin in vivo has two active forms: somatostatin-14 and somatostatin-28.
