The Army is forcing the Pentagon Defense Research and Engineering Bureau to resume its $ 10 million cut from its $ 15 million funding for the continued development of laser-guided Hellfire missiles. The Air Force supports the Army’s position and both seek ways to maintain the plan to continue developing the ISAF laser finder. It would be a difficult task for the 1976 fiscal budget to apply for the hellfire program if its funding is really reduced to $ 5 million advocated by the Defense Research and Engineering Agency. At that level, the provision would allow only the continuation of missile tests and no development of laser seekers.
