Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of detemir combined with acarbose on senile diabetic patients with coronary heart disease. Methods: Sixty elderly diabetic patients with coronary heart disease were randomly divided into Det group (insulin detemir combined with acarbose treatment) and NPH group (hypoprotein zinc insulin combined with acarbose treatment). The changes of fasting blood glucose (FBG), 2h BG and Hb A1c before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Hypoglycemia and angina pectoris were observed in both groups. Results: After treatment, the levels of FBG, 2h BG and Hb A1c in both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment (P <0.05), but there was no significant difference between the two groups (P> 0.05). The incidence of hypoglycemia and angina pectoris in Det group were significantly lower than those in NPH group (P <0.05). Conclusion: Combination of detemir insulin and acarbose in the treatment of elderly diabetic patients with coronary heart disease has definite effect and high safety.
