定襄西河头地道战纪念馆位于忻州市定襄县晋昌镇西河头村。抗日战争和解放战争时期,定襄县西河头村的战略位置十分重要。抗战时处于五台山抗曰根据地的西线前哨,是扼守晋察冀边区的西大门。解放战争后期,西河头村更是抵御智村、忻县、太原西面之敌进犯定襄城东解放区的重要屏障和门户。为了防御敌人的袭击,西河头民兵从1942年幵始挖掘地道,初为一般秘密地窖形式,只能藏人不能作战,后来根据斗争形势的需要,逐渐发展成为比较复杂的隐蔽地道并逐步完善。1947年秋,全村动员500余人,经40个昼夜扩挖修筑而成,自东向西的三条主道总长为5公里,52条支道纵横交错。地道分为三层.二层设有指挥所、休息
