The new spherical steam compensator used in our factory’s new steam pipe network replaces Ding’s traditional square compensator, which not only saves a large amount of one-time investment, but also reduces the heat loss, making it a good way to save energy and money. 1 Project Overview The production workshop uses steam from the boiler room with the D325 pipeline, steam pressure 0.8MPa, steam temperature 169 °C. The pipeline is about 1200m long and is erected outside. According to design calculations, the thermal elongation of the pipeline is about 3m. The original design uses 10 square-shaped expansion compensators. This compensator is bulky, the protruding arm is about 9m in length, not easy to arrange, and the length of the pipe section is increased by about 160m, which is more investment and heat.
