Peace and stability in the Korean peninsula is a premise and necessary condition for the security of Northeast Asia and China's surrounding areas.It is also critical for China's peaceful development.The end of the confrontation between the two camps led respectively by the U.S.and USSR over 20 years ago has not brought the Gospel of peace and security to the Korean peninsula,nor has it really changed the standoff situation of cold war in the peninsula.On the contrary,in recent years,the nuclear crisis and the turbulent situation on the peninsula have dragged on,and so the situation on the peninsula has evolved from one of the "cold peace" of the Cold War into continuing instability and even high tension from time to time.During the cold war era,the situation on the peninsula was still controllable because of the balance of power between the two poles.But in the post-Cold War era,as the original balance of power between the China-Russia-DPRK (northern) triangle and the U.S-Japan-ROK (southem) triangle no longer exists,and no any new security balance mechanism has been formed,the situation on the peninsula has become more unpredictable,and many times North and South Korea have even come close to the brink of war because of armed conflicts between the two sides.Based on the overall background and small geographical reality of the Korean peninsula,in order to maintain peace and security on the peninsula,we should consider and grasp development and policies in the following ways:
