宫本和柳生是日本近代的知名剑客,宫本是柳生的师父。柳生在拜师学艺时,曾经急切地问宫本说:“师父,你看凭我的条件,需要练多久才能成为一流的剑客”宫本答道:“至少要10年吧!”柳生一听这话更着急了,又问:“10年的时间太久了,如果我能加倍苦练,那么需要多久可以成为一流的剑客”宫本回答说:“那就得20年了!”听了师父的话,柳生一脸狐疑,又接着问:“假如我再利用上晚上的时间,夜以继日地苦练,那么多久可以成为一流的剑客呢”宫本答道:“那你只会劳累而亡,无法成为一流的剑客。”柳生觉得师父的说法太矛盾了,就问宫本:“师父,为什么我越是努力练剑,成为一流剑客的时间反而越长呢”宫本的答案是:“要当一流剑客的先决条件,就是必须永远保留一只眼睛注视自己,不断地反省。
