蔡祥军1986年毕业于江苏化工学院有机化工专业,之后被分配到山东齐鲁石化烯烃线性低密度车间担任技术员;齐鲁石化为我国首家引进美国联合碳化物公司Unipol工艺聚乙烯生产装置的单位,并设有两套生产装置。蔡祥军深知设备的更新必须伴随技术的进步,1989年他赴美学习,参与了齐鲁石化14万吨/年HDPE装置的开工。功夫不负有心人,由于出色的表现,他很快在同行中脱颖而出。
