This article investigates the mortality and predictive value of mild changes in ST segment of healthy people to cardiovascular disease. Subjects and methods Census of Dutch soldiers in the Dutch capital, 1953-1981, conducted a survey of 40-65-year-olds, who appeared to be healthy civilians, 1583 men and 1508 women, to assess their future mortality rates. Then, the mortality rate related to ST segment changes was tracked in 28 years from 1953 to 1981. According to the different forms of ST segment changes, the two groups were subdivided into mild elevation of ST segment (mostly ≤1 mm), ST segment depression Straight, ST segment depression = 0.25mm and ST segment depression> 0.25mm four groups were analyzed and observed.
