You must know the Olympic Games, but have you heard of “Olympic Games of fake nails”？ Some days ago, 354 top manicurists（美甲师）from 24 countries gathered in London to take part in the Nailympics——Olympic Games of fake nails.

A Miser, to make sure of his property, sold all that he had had converted it into a great lump of gold, which he hid in a hole in the ground, and went continually to visit and inspect it. This roused the curiosity of one of his workmen, who, suspecting that there was a treasure, when his master’s back was turned went to the spot and stole it away. When the Miser returned and found the place empty, he wept and tore his hair. But a neighbor who saw him in this extravagant（过分的） grief, and learned the cause of it, said: “Fret（使烦恼） yourself no longer, but take a stone and put it in the same place, and think that it is your lump of gold; for, as you never meant to use it, the one will do you as much gold as the other.”
译文:
一个守财奴为了确保财产安全，将所有家当卖掉换成了一大块金子，他把金子埋在一个地洞里，不时地去查看，这引起了他的一个雇工的好奇。雇工猜测那里肯定有宝贝，趁主人离开之际，他来到埋藏地点，把金子偷走了。守财奴回来发现金子不翼而飞，便痛哭流涕，乱撮头发。一个邻人问明缘由后说：“你也别太痛苦了，拿一块石头埋在原地，就当是那块金子好了，因为既然你永远不想用它，那么两者不是一回事吗？”

Two brothers were looking at some beautiful paintings.
“Look.” said the elder brother， “How nice these paintings are!”
“Yes.” said the younger, “But in all these paintings there is only the mother and the children. Where is the father？”
The elder brother thought for a moment and then explained,“Obviously he was painting the pictures.”

A young couple were becoming anxious（焦虑的） about their four-year-old son, who had not yet talked. They took him to specialists（专家）, but the doctors found nothing wrong with him. Then one morning at breakfast the boy suddenly blurted, “Mom, the toast is burned. ”
“You talked! You talked!” Shouted his mother， “I’m so happy! But why has it taken this long？”
“Well, up till now.” Said the boy, “Things have been okay.”

Billy and Bobby were small boys. They were brothers, and they often had fights with each other. Last Saturday their mother said to them, “I’m going to cook our lunch now. Go out and play in the garden and be good.”
“Yes, Mummy. ”the two boys answered, and they went out.
They played in the garden for half an hour, and then Billy ran into the kitchen. “Mummy.”he said, “Bobby’s broken a window in Mrs. Allen’s house. Mrs. Allen was one of our neighbors.”
“He’s a bad boy.” his mother said， “How did he break it？”
