词汇学习是贯穿整个英语教学和学习过程的重要环节,是英语学习的基础。目前,在高等院校的英语教学中,词汇的学习一直困扰着学生,制约着学生英语水平的进一步提高。符号学的意义观是把词汇的意义放在宏大的社会文化背景构成的语境中去考察,为词汇的教学提供了一个更为广阔的视野。教师作为教学活动的主导与实施者,应该运用该理论来帮助学生树立正确的词汇学习观,找到实用的词汇学习方法,提高词汇学习的效率。
Vocabulary learning is an important part of the process of English teaching and learning, and is the foundation of English learning. At present, in the English teaching in colleges and universities, vocabulary learning has plagued the students, restricting the further improvement of students’ English proficiency. Semiotic view of meaning is to examine the meaning of the vocabulary in the context of a grand socio-cultural background, providing a broader perspective on the teaching of vocabulary. As the leader and implementer of teaching activities, teachers should use this theory to help students establish a correct vocabulary learning and find useful vocabulary learning methods to improve the efficiency of vocabulary learning.
