The theme of China ’s “Modernity ” issued by “Feeling the Sad Country” became the core of the narration of Gu’s “History of Literature”. The author himself is also trying to explore a literary history beyond the writing of the road. In his own words, it is “borrowing the model of literature to write a history of 20th century ideas.”
