DuPont claims that a fiber-optic network laid out in Newcastle, Delaware, is unique to the communications technology of choice. Many of the privately owned audio / data fiber optic networks that have been deployed in Newcastle have slower transmission speeds (eg 90Mb / s new DEC network). As a result, DuPont plans to install the 417Mb / s fiber optic network at AT & T Technical Services. The network transmission rate in 1986 can be increased to 1.7Gb / s, quality improvement plan will be completed in 1987 or 1988. This network of DuPont companies will be the transmission of non-long-distance communications in the United States
