INTRODUCTION Concrete box girders are supported on slender, single-column piers to provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance. Viaduct bridge can also expand the driver’s field of vision (see Figure 1). The wide pier with two supports arranged directly under the web of the beam is outside the scope of this article.
