本文以美国犹太作家菲利普·罗斯的《田园牧歌》中“田园”为落脚点,分析犹太人在同化进程中的无奈与艰辛。小说主人公利沃夫的田园梦不仅代表着一种生活取向,更承载着几代犹太移民的自我认同感与美国归属感。然而田园梦的追寻之旅布满荆棘,犹太人由于诸多的现实与历史因素会更多地纠结在田园悖论之中。罗斯以细腻、犀利的笔触向读者展示了这种困惑与迷茫。
This essay tries to analyze the Jewish helplessness and hardships in the process of assimilation by taking “Pastoral” as an example in the idyllic pastoral of Philip Rose, the American Jewish writer. Lviv’s idyllic dream not only represents a living orientation, but also carries the self-identity of generations of Jewish immigrants and the sense of belonging of the United States.
