1990年我到美国某可乐公司在上海的投资企业担任人事经理。上班头一天,我就发现办公室里的大冰柜上挂着一把大锁,紧紧地锁着各种饮料,看上去有些别扭。于是我就问外籍总经理:“为什么要把冰柜锁起来?”外籍总经理告诉我:“饮料过去是放在冰柜里,供所有雇员和外来客人随时享用的,但每次我们将冰柜装满,一转身去看,冰柜就空了。这冰柜简直成了‘无底洞’。所以,只能把冰柜锁起来。”他说,全世界可乐公司的冰柜都可以不上锁,惟独在中国做不到。我本能地对外籍总经理讲:“这不是人的素质问题,这是管理问题。”外籍总经理听了跳起来反驳我:“你讲什么大话?照你这么说,这不是你们上海人的素质问题,那么请你管理给我看看,好吗?”
