The rising price of silver has led to the consideration of using silver dye bleaching technology to reduce the silver consumption of black and white or monochromatic emulsions. Ciba company to improve its silver dye bleaching process. British Patent No. 2017324A states that the dye bleach catalyst is reduced by active silver in the emulsion layer to active dihydroform and diffused into the receptive layer containing an immiscible bleachable dye.
