(NucNet, July 1, 2014) Areva, the French company, announced recently that the Beselss nuclear power plant in the Netherlands has started using MOF fuels from Areva element. This is the first time this unit has used MOX fuel. In 2013, the Bossel Unit 1 was allowed to load eight MOX fuel assemblies in 2014 and 12 such assemblies per year thereafter, equivalent to 40% of each refueling volume. Areva has manufactured MOX fuel for Bosell since November 2013. The operator of the Bosell EPZ Power Company in Holland initially decided in 2008 to diversify the supply of nuclear fuel and chose Areva to manufacture MOX fuel for it.
