In October 1985, IBM announced that its TOKEN RING products have entered the market, bringing the ring office network technology to a new stage. In the beginning of TOKEN RING development, IBM and TI co-developed the development of adapter chip. When IBM announced the successful development of its chips, TI also developed TMS380 series chips.
