普通碳素钢材在大气中极易腐蚀,经济损失十分严重。一些欧洲国家很早就采用含铜或其他成分的钢材作机车车辆和房屋结构。三十年代,美国钢铁公司(USS)经过长期的试验后,大量生产CORTEN牌号的低合金高强度耐大气腐蚀钢,简称耐候钢,在机车车辆、桥梁、房屋等各种钢结构中广泛使用。从此,采用耐候钢便成为世界大势所趋。1984年,国家科委把研制耐候钢列为攻关课题,编号专14—4。
Ordinary carbon steel is extremely corrosive in the atmosphere, the economic loss is very serious. Some European countries have long used steel containing copper or other components for rolling stock and house structures. In the 1930s, after a long period of testing by U.S. Steel Company (USS), a large number of CORTEN grades of low-alloy high-strength atmospheric corrosion-resistant steels, referred to as weathering steels, were extensively used in various steel structures such as rolling stock, bridges and houses. Since then, the use of weather-resistant steel has become the world trend. In 1984, the State Science and Technology Commission made the development of weathering steel as a research topic, numbered 14-4.
