On July 17, an accident happened in the auto dealer conference in Jiuquan, Gansu. Shanghai Volkswagen’s general manager Liu Jian, PR director Zeng Jialin and the other two people died of car accident.
A source said that the car that Liu Jian was driving is a new Touran auto produced by Shanghai Volkswagen. The speed was 220 km/h, higher than the upper limit. The accident happened in the expressway connecting Dunhuang and Guazhou. It hit a truck and exploded.
Shanghai Volkswagen immediately founded an emergent team. Shen Jianhua, president of Shanghai Automotive Group had already left Shanghai for Gansu. The company also said that the operation and business are fine.
Liu Jian was born in September 1964. In 1986 he graduated from Tongji University. He had been working in Shanghai Volkswagen for several years. He had a large amount of technological knowledge.
Liu Jian took the general manager of Shanghai Volkswagen in October 2007. During his tenure, Shanghai Volkswagen successfully introduced the new models after years’ fruitless effort. Under Liu Jian’s leadership, Shanghai Volkswagen kept the champion of sale in China for several years. In 2009, Shanghai Volkswagen sold 728 thousand units and the revenue was 75.59 billion yuan (USD 11.15 billion).
