These financing mechanisms have been specially funded for low-budget, artistic, and Romanian films with a strong directorial personal style. Romanian contemporary film financing mainly includes two aspects: domestic financing and international financing. Domestic financing comes from state-funded and private-sector companies, with international funding mainly from the French government, French companies and joint studios in other countries. New Romanian “New Wave” films of the new century have won numerous awards and won world-wide attention, and are inseparable from their financing mechanisms.
