以往认为水合氯醛的催眠作用很可能是由于它在体内转变成三氯乙醇之故。但对给予动物水合氯醛后的神经状态与脑中水合氯醛或三氯乙醇浓度之间关系如何迄今尚未解决。本实难企图了解水合氯醛本身究竟有无催眠作用。将水合氯醛、三氯乙醇分别腹腔注射或静脉注射于小白鼠、然后在出现睡眠的不同时期杀死动物,测定脑组织中二药的浓度。在静脉注射后几分钟,当脑中水合氯醛的浓度很高, In the past that hypochlorite chloral hydrate is likely due to its role in the body into trichloroethanol so.
