In 1995, Rem Koolhaas, an architect, made the following account of the characteristics of Singapore society: Singapore is a brand new city built in 30 years and the whole process of building has shown that in the past three years, Ten years has always insisted on a philosophy that did not leave any text reflect the heritage of things. All of this is again governed by a government that ruled out all contingencies and uncertainties. We can even say that Singapore as a whole has been reconstructed in these three decades. The Singapore government’s concept of construction is also simple: If there is chaos, then continue to create chaos; if it is ugly, then design ugly things; if it is unreasonable, then let it unreasonable. Singapore thus established a unique social identity in contemporary society.
