许多往事,常常都是在一个非常偶然的时刻引发回忆起来的,追忆我和田海燕同志的交往,也是这样的。1995年12月20日,中国青年出版社在人民大会堂湖北厅举行建社45周年座谈会。在庄重典雅的大厅里,陈列着一套刚刚重印出版的32集《红旗飘飘》丛刊。这套丛刊从创刊至今已经40年了,“文革”前出版了17集,“文革”后又出版了15集。它是专门反映新民主主义革命时期各个历史阶段的重大事件和我党一些重要人物、代表人物的感人经历的丛刊,在我党我军的高级干部中享有很高的声誉,一直不为人们所忘。40年后,作为丛刊的编者,望着眼前这排恢弘壮美的丛刊,我无比欣喜,情不自禁地走上前去一本本拿起来翻阅欣赏,不觉拿到第十五期时,田海燕的名字闪入眼帘,使我的心为之一动,关于他的往事一幕幕涌现到眼前……
