Edmonton, Canada: Two million Canadians have high blood pressure, but only half know that they have high blood pressure. A rapid test that uses blood cell mass quickly detects patients with hypertension and those who may develop high blood pressure in the future. Mike Wolo-wyk, of the University of Alberta’s School of Pharmacology and Pharmacy, said that soon enough doctors could mix blood with a few drops of patient blood, centrifuge, and red blood cells separated by weight to detect the result. Prior to the widespread use of this method, there is an immediate need to establish more standardized patterns of hypertension and normotensive readings than existing ones
