IntroductionThe purpose of this paper is to advance the proposal that slate from the Cambrian succession of North Wales (Fig 1), subsequently referred to as Cambrian Welsh Slate, be accorded the inteationally recognised designation of Global Heritage Stone Resource (GHSR) by consideration and discussion of the heritage and geological characteristics of this lithology. Cambrian Welsh Slate is a dimension stone from the United Kingdom with worldwide use and recognition.
