As the process of globalization deepens, the multilingual landscape has become an important feature of cities, especially the world’s metropolises. Based on Ben-Rafael’s principle of language landscape construction, combined with the SPEAKING model of Huebner multi-language landscape analysis, the author investigates and analyzes the multilingual landscapes in Beijing’s three sections through corpus collection and interviews. The study found that official signs, such as signs and signs, warning signs, reflect national laws and regulations in a more concentrated manner and reflect the concept of “power relations” and different “collective identities” at all levels of management. On the other hand, the design of commercial stores reflects more the principle of “rational interest” under the trend of global economic integration. Some multilingual signboards emphasize “individual performance” and cultural characteristics through language innovation. The Beijing multilingual landscape embodies the capital in the crucial period of historical development with new challenges and transformations experienced by its ethnic, cultural, political and economic identities. Language landscape not only reflects the deep structure and social life of the society, but also can be a powerful tool to criticize education, reflect social change and strive for language rights.
