《中国差报与广州钞报》是美国商人威廉·伍德于1831年7月28日在广州创办的一份英文报纸,成为美国人在华创办的第一份报纸。本文利用哈佛—燕京社图书馆的第一手资料对国内已经散佚无存的《中国差报与广州钞报》进行了研究,介绍了该报的创办情况、1832年4月改版、内容变化、编排特色、停刊原因、历史影响和地位,揭示出美国在华新闻事业开端时期的基本概况。
China Dailiao and Guangzhou Dazao was the English newspaper founded by American businessman William Wood in Guangzhou on July 28, 1831, and became the first newspaper that Americans founded in China. This paper makes use of the first-hand information of the Harvard-Yanjing Library to study the China Financial Newspaper and the Guangzhou Financial Newspaper, which have disappeared from the country, and introduces the founding situation of the newspaper. It was revised in April 1832, Changes, orchestration features, causes of cease publication, historical influences and status, and reveals a basic overview of the beginning of the United States journalism in China.
