In 1980, the U.S. coal production reached 775 million tons. It is predicted that by 1985, the output and consumption of coal will reach 907 million tons, of which the increased output will be mostly used to generate electricity. In the light of current production, it is estimated that 454 million tonnes of coal, after some degree of washing and even crushing and screening, are also subject to re-selection and flotation. Due to the continuous increase of coal production and the increasingly strict control over the combustion of coal, the amount of coal that needs to be dealt with in some form will increase continuously in the future, so that the amount of coal gangue generated will be larger and larger.
