At the southern tip of China’s vast South China Sea, there is a large group of oval coral reefs. This is the Nansha Islands, and the west is often called the spratly islands. The Nansha Islands have always been an inseparable part of the sacred territory of China. Since the 1980s, however, some countries around the South China Sea have begun to impose territorial claims on it and have swallowed the Nansha Islands reef despite the strong opposition of the Chinese government. Without the permission of the Chinese government, it is easy to exploit the seabed mineral resources around the islands.
