高速铁路行车组织具有高速度、高密度的特点。虽然高速铁路以安全、正点为首要前提,但由于设备故障造成中断行车和列车晚点的情况也偶有发生。在设备故障时,通常根据故障性质的不同和对列车正常运行影响程度的大小需要采取不同的运行调整方法。设置渡线组织列车由邻线绕行,增加了对晚点列车运行调整的灵活性。讨论利用区间渡线组织高速列车越行的方案,并计算缩短积压列车疏导的时间,量化分析渡线在恢复列车正常运行过程中的作用。
