Edgar Allan Poe (1809 ~ 1849) 19th-century American poet, novelist and literary critic, an important member of the American romanticism era, the novel is mainly Gothic, and his horror fiction Even more amazing. Poe’s life-long Poe was neglected because of his own experience and the times in which he lived. He was even more impoverished in the early days. In the American Romantic era, literary works generally emphasize the imagination and emotional factors of literature, focusing on vivid description, exotic expression, sensory experience and description of supernatural power, paying attention to the free expression of emotions and psychological depiction of characters. The creation of any literary work has a certain background. The theory of translation put forward by Hans Vermeer is an important development of translation history. It is a theory applying Skopos concept to translation. Its core concept is that the most important factor in the process of translation is the purpose of overall translation. The article borrows this theory to discuss Ellen Lo’s hated kindness of the elderly. In “The Tell-Tale Heart,” Poe fears that there is no malicious or even kind-hearted eyes on the elders, causing the author to probe into the reasons why the author disgusted the eyes of the elders from a teleological point of view: 1: Lack of security ; 2 era abandoned children; 3: looking for a sense of presence; 4: eating opium, alcoholism.
