自上世纪七十年代以来,宜昌相继迎来了三次大的发展机遇,一是葛洲坝水电枢纽工程的建设,二是三峡大坝的兴建,三是西部大开发、中部崛起和东部产业转移。本文通过对宜昌丰富的物质资源和独特的地域文化、产业基础的形成和交通设施的兴建、国内外经济趋势和我国的发展战略等方面进行归纳、总结、分析和预测,阐明了宜昌经济社会的发展具有明显的优势、难得的机遇和很大的潜力,提出了促进宜昌经济社会又好又快发展的基本思路。
