By analyzing the omission errors in the composition of American college students, this paper examines the problems existing in the omission of Chinese. First of all, according to the nature of the omission in the interlanguage, they are divided into two categories (“no province” and “province not province”), six sub-categories The omission of the object, the omission of the object, the omission of the “”, the omission of the preposition, the omission of the preposition and the crown), and then statistics and analyzes the frequency of different types of errors appearing in the discourse and discusses the causes of the errors. The research shows that the ellipsis errors in American college students’ compositions mostly come from the cross-language interference or the type differences between Chinese and English languages. Therefore, we should pay attention to the differences between Chinese and English omissions in Chinese omission teaching.
