“面向世界,面向二十一世纪,面向现代化”,这是规划社会主义建设千秋伟业的指导思想。“面向世界”,就应当了解世界,特别应当了解我国所处太平洋地区的社会发展状况。“面向二十一世纪”,就应当以科学的方法预测我国、太平洋地区以至世界社会在二十一世纪的发展前景。“面向现代化”,就应当展望作为我国四个现代化的关键——科学技术及其赖于发展的基础——经济在下一世纪的发展水平,以及二者在太平洋地区与世界的社会发展中的作用和地位。有鉴于此,本刊在新的一年中,拟将介绍有关“二○○○年中国科技”的文章,同时也适当刊载太平洋地区及世界其他国家科学技术的展望。本期先刊出日本经济企划厅的“太平洋时代的展望”一文,以飨读者。
“Facing the World, Facing the Twenty-first Century and Facing the Modernization” is the guiding ideology for planning the great cause of socialist construction. To “face the world”, we should understand the world, and in particular we should understand the social development in the Pacific Ocean where our country is located. “Facing the twenty-first century”, we should scientifically predict the development prospects of the society in our country, the Pacific region and the world in the 21st century. “Facing the modernization”, we should look forward to being the key to the four modernizations of our country - science and technology and their foundation for development - their level of development in the next century and their role in social development in the Pacific and in the world And status. In view of this, we plan to introduce an article on “China Science and Technology in 2000” in the new year. We will also properly publish the outlook for science and technology in the Pacific and other countries in the world. This issue is first published in Japan’s Economic Planning Agency’s “Pacific Times Outlook” article to readers.
