U形测力环在滚齿机床、插齿机床、磨床和钻床上得到了实际的应用。这种测力环具有下列特点:(1)可以改变千分表触头作用点与着力点的相对位置来改变它的弹性系数(设计时实现);(2)在某种场合下可以免去使用圆形测力环所用的杠杆转换机构;(3)与相当尺寸的圆形测力环比较,有较高的灵敏度。目前所用的U形测力环,是在其制造完成以后用实验方法确定负荷与变形之间的关系的。这种做法不易获得合适的弹性系数值。因此,应该按照预定的要求进行计算。U形测力环在工作时的基本形式如图1所示。
