The Liangshan Yi people have their own unique local practices and cognitions of death. They think that death is a natural phenomenon. There are both differences and close connections between death and birth. At the same time, they have the awareness of the existence of animism, immortality and reproductive worship. In the face of the impact of modernization and mainstream culture, the Yi people made appropriate adjustments to their own perceptions of death and infused new elements into the traditional religious concepts of the Yi people so that the Liangshan Yi people’s awareness of death was not only manifested in the ritual performance On the more daily life as a way. In this sense, this kind of cognition is not only a window for understanding the Yi people’s belief in the world, but also a cultural image for understanding the real life of Yi people.
