界画是中国画画种之一。明陶宗仪《辍耕录)》载“画家十三科”中,有界画楼台一科。指以宫室、楼台、屋宇等建筑为题材,而用界尺划线的绘画。也叫“宫室”或“屋木”。作为依附建筑设计的形式出现的绘画艺术,界画的源头当十分遥远。从出土的公元前十一世纪龙山文化时期的陶器上,人们已经可以看到它的端倪。在漫长的历史进程中,随着社会政治、经济、宗教、文化的发展,界画艺术逐步形成、完善、独立,乃至出现辉煌的鼎盛。宋朝的界画家被列为朝廷画院内最高待遇——待诏的六种人之一。界画不但是画院的考试科目,
