The nanofriction properties of molecular deposition (MD) films on various Au substrates were investigated using atomic force microscopy. It is concluded that whatever the anioned Au surface and the monolayer MD film a Au substrate are, if decorated with alkyl chains, both of them have certain lubricated effects Moreover, the alkyi-ter-minated process is able to stabilize the nanofriction characteristics of the surface and to reduce the frictional force ohviously.It is of significance for seeking a new nanoscale lubrication film.
