裸露的第三纪红土,在晋西黄土丘陵沟壑区占有一定面积。据离石王家沟流域调查,红土坡占总面积的9.92%,多分布在沟谷底部与沟掌。这些荒坡的地面坡度多在30~45度之间。由于红土的土壤物理性极差,肥力瘠薄,几乎不能种植农作物,林木生长也极少,多为非生产地,植被稀少,复盖度一般只有5~15%。为综合治理与利用荒山荒坡,改造红土坡为林木基地,并进而控制水土流失,我所于1955~1964年布设了本项试验。二十多年的试验观察结果表明,晋西的红土荒坡并非不可利用的土地,是可用于造林的。
Naked third-stage laterite, in the western Shaanxi Loess Plateau hilly area occupies a certain area. According to Lugou Wangjiagou watershed survey, the red soil slopes account for 9.92% of the total area, mostly distributed in the valley bottom and ditch palm. The slopes of these barren slopes are mostly between 30 and 45 degrees. Due to poor physical properties of soils, poor soil fertility, almost impossible to grow crops, forest growth is also very small, mostly non-producing areas, vegetation is scarce, coverage is generally only 5 to 15%. In order to comprehensively harness and utilize the barren hills and slopes, rehabilitate the red soil slopes as a forest base and further control the soil and water loss, we set up this experiment from 1955 to 1964. Over two decades of experimental observations show that the hinterland of western Shanxi is not an unavailable site and can be used for afforestation.
