日本栗和中国板栗同属山毛榉科栗属植物,是两个不同的种,日本栗具有果大,适宜加工的优良性状,70年代以来日本选育出一批果大、抗栗瘿蜂的优良品种。为探讨我省山区引种日本栗的可能性,1994年1月和1995年12月先后2次引进日本栗嫁接苗,在东源、阳山、韶关、广州等地布点试种,并分别于1996年8月23日在东源,1997年7月28日在省果树所通过了专家鉴评。
