一 植物学家胡先骕,字步曾,江西新建人,是世界闻名的科学家。 胡先骕早年留学美国,荣获加里福尼亚大学、哈佛大学博士学位,多次代表中国出席国际性的学术会议。历任南京高等师范学堂和东南大学生物系主任、植物学教授、北平静生生物调查所所长。抗日战争时期,在江西中正大学担任校长和特别教授,并被选为前中央研究院评议员、院士。抗战胜利后,仍返回北平主持静生生物调查所。解放后,担任中国科学院研究员、北京大学和北京师范大学教授;还翻译了有关米丘林学说和赫胥黎《天演论》等书籍。 在十年动乱时期,胡先骕遭到林彪、“四人帮”的迫害,一九六八年在北京去 A botanist Hu Xian 骕, word strides, Jiangxi new people, is a world famous scientist.
